Brain Cancer Fighter Joanna Arnautovic Walks to Raise Awareness and Vital Funds at Walk4BrainCancer Adelaide (Sun 28th Sept)

This September, Joanna Arnautovic and her team will participate in Walk4BrainCancer Adelaide, motivated by her recent diagnosis of a Grade 4 Astrocytoma in July 2025.

On Sunday, 28 September 2025, Joanna Arnautovic will be one of hundreds of South Australians walking in Walk4BrainCancer Adelaide to raise vital funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

Joanna, a 40-year-old Adelaide local, was recently diagnosed with a Grade 4 Astrocytoma after discovering she had a large tumour in her right frontal lobe in June 2025.

Following an extensive six-hour surgery on 22nd July, she spent her 40th birthday in hospital and was discharged just three days later. Now, Joanna is determined to turn her personal challenge into a force for good.

“I am walking for everyone who has ever suffered from brain cancer, and also for the families who are impacted by this devastating disease,” Joanna shares.

Joanna has been very open about sharing her story with family, friends, and the local community, because she believes in the importance of listening to your body. She says that if she hadn’t paid attention to the symptoms she was experiencing, she could be in a very different position today.

Taking one day at a time, keeping a positive attitude, and accepting the support of loved ones has helped her navigate the challenges of her diagnosis and treatment. Joanna encourages others to remember that it’s okay to let go of the ‘steering wheel’ as a patient, allowing family and friends to provide support.

“Cancer brings immense challenges, unexpected stress, and a lot of waiting, but it also reminds us that family and friends are always there to offer support. It’s okay to take a back seat sometimes and let others help”, Joanna says.

This will be Joanna’s first time participating in Walk4BrainCancer, and she is joined by friends and family as part of her team, ‘Joanna’s Army.’ Together, the team has already surpassed their $2,500 fundraising goal, raising over $3,600. You can support Joanna and her team here

For the walk, Joanna and her team plan to wear matching tops and even tutus, adding a playful and celebratory spirit to the event.

Walk4BrainCancer Adelaide will see participants complete a 4km walk along the Torrens River, followed by a family-friendly BBQ, music, and entertainment. The event is designed to unite the community in the fight against brain cancer, Australia’s leading cause of cancer death in children and adults under 40.

CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Andrew Giles, emphasises the significance of the event:

“Walk4BrainCancer Adelaide brings the community together to raise essential funds for groundbreaking research. Joanna Arnautovic’s inspiring courage and determination, highlights the impact individuals can have when they turn their personal challenges into action.”
