Brisbane Mum Krystal Patterson Leads Team to Support Husband Sam’s Cancer Battle at Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane (26th Oct)

Later this month, Brisbane mum Krystal Patterson and her team will participate in Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane for her husband Sam, who has been bravely battling Stage 4 Glioblastoma since 2023.

On Sunday, 26 October 2025, Krystal Patterson will join hundreds of Queenslanders walking in Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane to raise vital funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

Krystal, 34, will be walking in support of her husband Sam, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma at just 30 years old in November 2023. Coming up to almost two years since his diagnosis, Sam is doing better than anyone, doctors included, could have expected.

After undergoing surgery, radiation, and ongoing chemotherapy five days a month, Sam has maintained stable MRIs and the strength to participate in the walk alongside Krystal, their two children, friends, and family.

“This will be our second year participating, and it’s incredible to see how many people are impacted by brain cancer. It’s honestly the hardest club to be a part of, but also the most loving community to walk beside,” Krystal shares.

Krystal and Sam’s team, ‘Walk4Patto,’ has grown to almost 20 people, all dedicated to raising awareness and funds for brain cancer research. Thanks to overwhelming community support, the team has already raised over $3,400. You can support their team here

The community support has been overwhelming for Krystal and Sam. Their best friends, Ross and Brooke, owners of Arana Tender Cuts Butcher, have organised a charity breakfast BBQ and donated meat trays for raffle prizes.

In addition, CTC (Country Trucker Caps) created custom ‘Walk4Patto’ caps, which Krystal’s team has sold to friends and family, with all proceeds going to their fundraising page. Krystal and Sam even hosted a massive garage sale, with donated goods from friends and family, to raise additional funds.

“Every dollar makes a difference. Turn it into a day to remember, invite others to join, and spark conversations. Every chat about brain cancer spreads awareness and builds momentum,” says Krystal.

Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane will start from 8:00am, with the 5km walk commencing at 9:00am. Participants will follow a scenic 5km route along Downfall Creek, finishing with a family-friendly BBQ, music, and entertainment.

CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Andrew Giles, highlights the importance of the event:

“Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane brings together the community to raise essential funds for groundbreaking research. Krystal Patterson’s dedication to supporting her husband Sam, highlights the impact individuals can have when they turn their personal challenges into action.”
