‘Glioblastoma Bomber’ Peter Humphreys Walks for a Cure Less Than Three Months After Terminal Brain Cancer Diagnosis at Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane (26th Oct)

Later this month, Queensland couple Peter Humphreys and Jen Horsford will participate in Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane after Peter’s shocking diagnosis with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme in August this year.

On Sunday, 26 October 2025, Peter Humphreys and Jen Horsford will join hundreds of Queenslanders walking in Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane to raise vital funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF).

Peter’s world, and that of his wife Jen, was turned upside down in June 2025 when he experienced a sudden seizure at home. Initially treated for a viral infection, further scans soon revealed a far more devastating reality. By August 2025, Peter had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive and terminal brain cancer.

Jen describes receiving the news as a shock that left the family reeling:

“We felt like we were in a car that had been hit by a freight train. It had to be a horrific dream, but the next day, it was still our reality.”

Despite the overwhelming diagnosis and the uncertainty ahead, Peter and Jen have channelled their fear and grief into a mission to help others impacted by brain cancer, turning their personal battle into action.

True to his nickname, the Glioblastoma Bomber, Peter has already inspired his community. A passionate Essendon Football Club supporter, he was surprised by the team last month with a signed 2025 jersey, sent especially to show support in his fight against this aggressive brain cancer.

Peter and Jen’s team, ‘Glioblastoma Bombers’, has grown to include friends and family, all committed to raising awareness and funds for brain cancer research.

“This has been a raw and rude awakening for our family. Peter wanted to do something to help others with this diagnosis, so they don’t have their world ripped apart like ours has been”, says Jen.

Following Brisbane, Peter and Jen plan to continue their mission in Melbourne, taking part in Walk4BrainCancer Melbourne on 23rd November to further raise awareness and funds.

Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane will start from 8:00am, with the 5km walk commencing at 9:00am. Participants will follow a scenic 5km route along Downfall Creek, finishing with a family-friendly BBQ, music, and entertainment.

CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, Andrew Giles, highlights the importance of the event:

“Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane brings together the community to raise essential funds for groundbreaking research. Pete and Jen’s dedication highlight the impact individuals can have when they turn their personal challenges into action.”
