Following his remarkable effort at Walk4BrainCancer Brisbane in October, Peter Humphreys and his wife, Jen Horsford, are continuing their mission to raise awareness and funds for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF), this time at Walk4BrainCancer Melbourne, the home of Peter’s beloved Essendon Football Club.
Peter’s world, and that of his wife Jen, was turned upside down in June 2025 when he experienced a sudden seizure at home. Initially treated for a viral infection, further scans soon revealed a far more devastating reality. By August 2025, Peter was diagnosed with Stage 4 Glioblastoma Multiforme, an aggressive and terminal brain cancer.
“We felt like we were in a car that had been hit by a freight train. It had to be a horrific dream, but the next day, it was still our reality.”\u202f
Despite the overwhelming diagnosis and the uncertainty ahead, Peter and Jen have channelled their fear and grief into a mission to help others impacted by brain cancer, turning their personal battle into action.
Having completed a gruelling course of radiation just two weeks ago, Peter remains determined to keep walking, raising awareness and vital funds for brain cancer research.
True to his nickname, the Glioblastoma Bomber, Peter has already inspired his community. A passionate Essendon Football Club supporter, he was surprised by the team in September with a signed 2025 jersey, sent especially to show support in his fight against this aggressive brain cancer.\u202f
\n \n \n\n \n \nThis month, Peter and Jen’s team, the Glioblastoma Bombers, will join hundreds of Victorians at Albert Park Lake for the 5km community walk. They have already raised over $3,200 for Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
“This has been a raw and rude awakening for our family. Peter wanted to do something to help others with this diagnosis, so they don’t have their world ripped apart like ours has been”, says Jen.\u202f
Peter’s participation across two events, Brisbane and now Melbourne, is testament to his resilience and commitment to turning personal adversity into meaningful impact.
