On Sunday, 19 October 2025, the heart of Parramatta will beat stronger as the community rallies together at Walk4BrainCancer Parramatta to raise vital funds and awareness for brain cancer research.  

Hosted by Cure Brain Cancer Foundation (CBCF), Australia’s leading organisation dedicated to funding innovative brain cancer research, the event will unite families, survivors, and supporters in a shared commitment to finding a cure. 

Participants will gather at Parramatta Park for a scenic and family-friendly 5km walk along the Parramatta River. The course is wheelchair accessible, and the day will include a community BBQ, music, and entertainment for all ages. 

Wristband collection will begin at 8:30am, and the walk will commence at 9:30am. This year, Walk4BrainCancer Parramatta aims to raise $70,000 to fund critical brain cancer research and advocacy initiatives. 

Walk4BrainCancer is the flagship fundraising initiative of CBCF and takes place in communities across Australia each year. Nationally, the campaign aims to raise more than $1.6 million in 2025 to accelerate new treatments and improve survival rates for people impacted by brain cancer. 

Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children and adults under 40 in Australia. Despite these devastating statistics, it continues to receive disproportionately low funding. The five-year survival rate has remained at just 20% for more than 30 years. 

Andrew Giles, CEO of Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, emphasises the importance of the event: 

“Walk4BrainCancer Parramatta brings the community together in a powerful show of support for people impacted by this devastating disease. By uniting to raise funds, we can accelerate research, drive new treatments, and give hope to families affected by brain cancer.”
